In this post I’m going to tell you something about my marathon experience. I’m a marathongirl.
After I ran my first marathon two years ago, I told myself I wouldn’t run another marathon ever again. Well, I changed my mind. It’s almost time to sign up for the third one. Most people ask me: Why are you doing this? Last year, during the last part of the marathon, I asked myself the same, haha. When I crossed the finish line I cried for like 15 minutes, I lost a few toenails & my whole body was exhausted.
But believe it or not, participating in a marathon is such a cool experience. A marathon reveals your strenghts and your valor. I was so proud when I crossed the finish line. And the funny thing is, normally I’m always worrying about how I look like. During the marathon, all I care about was moving forward. I really looked like an idiot ( imagine a tomato head), but I didn’t care at that moment. Well I crossed the line in 3.44.18 hours and when I see my medal I’m still so happy and proud. So I have no doubts, April 10th I will be participating the Marathon of Rotterdam for the third time.
But back to the question: Why are you running a marathon? Well I don’t know, I think it’s an addiction. Emil Zatopek (Olympic Athlete) said the following about it: If you want to win something, run the 100 m. If you want to experience something, run a marathon. I have to admit, an experience it is.
